Meeting Date: September 12, 2025
At our recent CSC meeting, we reviewed staff input and discussed budget priorities. Here is a summary of what was shared and decided:
What We’re Protecting
Staff made it clear that direct classroom teaching must remain our top priority. This includes:
Classroom teachers
Small group interventions
Direct student instruction
Classroom paras and, in many cases, mental health supports
Where Reductions Could Happen (if unavoidable)
Ideas shared included reducing:
Leadership or administrative roles
Some para/1:1 support positions (with mixed feedback on importance)
Enrichment or non-core supports
Mental health supports (mixed feedback — some suggested protecting, others reducing)
Guiding Principles
Our budget decisions should:
Keep student learning and classroom teaching first
Use data to guide decisions
Protect class sizes
Support school culture and morale
Be transparent and include staff input
Decisions
To close the budget gap, CSC decided to hold on current vacancies instead of cutting filled positions. This means:
Interventionist/Teacher will remain unfilled
Instructional Para will remain unfilled
Communications Specialist will be reduced
This plan helps us protect classroom instruction and maintain stability for students and staff.
