COVID Updates 10/28/2020
On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 DPS announced a change in our school operations.
Beginning Monday, November 2:
– All 3rd – 5th grade students will continue REMOTE LEARNING at least through Thanksgiving.
– ECE – 2nd grade students enrolled in In-Person Learning will return to school with our current Health and Safety Guidelines.
The reason for this switch is simple: COVID cases throughout Denver are increasing at a dramatic and unsustainable rate. We see this throughout the entire city and we have begun to see this at Knapp. Over the past weekend we had several students test positive for COVID. Today we learned that one staff member tested positive for COVID. We do not believe that any of the COVID cases were contracted at school. In fact, in every case we know that someone in the person’s home or close family circle has been diagnosed with COVID or were showing symptoms of COVID prior to our student or staff member testing positive.
It’s critically important that EVERYONE does their part by maintaining social distance, wearing masks and STAYING HOME when you have ANY symptoms that might be COVID related. A simple cold or allergies could actually be COVID.

El martes 27 de octubre de 2020, DPS anunció un cambio en las operaciones de nuestra escuela.
A partir del lunes 2 de noviembre:
– Todos los estudiantes de 3º a 5º grado continuarán el APRENDIZAJE REMOTO al menos hasta el Día de Acción de Gracias.
– ECE: los estudiantes de segundo grado inscritos en el aprendizaje en persona regresarán a la escuela con nuestras pautas de salud y seguridad actuales.
La razón de este cambio es simple: los casos de COVID en todo Denver están aumentando a un ritmo dramático e insostenible. Vemos esto en toda la ciudad y hemos comenzado a ver esto en Knapp. Durante el fin de semana pasado, varios estudiantes dieron positivo por COVID. Hoy nos enteramos de que un miembro del personal dio positivo por COVID. No creemos que ninguno de los casos de COVID se haya contraído en la escuela. De hecho, en todos los casos sabemos que alguien en el hogar de la persona o un círculo familiar cercano ha sido diagnosticado con COVID o mostraba síntomas de COVID antes de que nuestro estudiante o miembro del personal diera positivo.
Es de vital importancia que TODOS hagan su parte al mantener la distancia social, usar máscaras y QUEDARSE EN CASA cuando tenga CUALQUIER síntoma que pueda estar relacionado con COVID. Un simple resfriado o alergias en realidad podrían ser COVID.
